5) ENTRANCE CRITERIA:
Entrance Requirements for Graduate Students:
Department of Public Administration admits students to the MA/MPA programs once every year. Master programs (MA and MPA) in Public Administration are part of the Institute of Social Sciences. Master programs require three basic criteria. First one is to get at least 50 points in LES, second one is to get at least 40 points in UDS, KPDS or in any equivalent foreign language exams such TOEFL, IELTS, and finally GPA must be at least 60/100. The acceptance criteria are set by the Institute of Social Sciences Institution Board. Calculation of average success grades is based upon the weighted average points of LES point (%50), KPDS, UDS or any equivalent exam point (%10), GPA (%30), and interview point (%10). Applicants are ranked from the highest one to the lowest one. To extend of program’s capacity, applicants ranked on the top of the list qualify for master education.
Once admitted, students must complete the minimum required course load of seven courses and a prothesis seminar in, at most, three consecutive semesters with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.00/4.00. Having successfully finished their course requirements and the prothesis seminar, students are expected to prepare their Master’s thesis under the guidance of their advisor and submit it to the department no later than the end of their sixth semester in the program. The M.S. theses are supposed to be defended in front of an academic jury established by the department. Upon approval M.A. theses are submitted to the Graduate School of Social Sciences.
